Tracey Evans - Centre Manager Has been involved in training both within the independent sector and British Red Cross and enjoys the diversity of her – training, assessing and planning new courses as requirements change. Her 25 year of experience in the care sector means she really understands delegates needs. She gets great satisfaction from seeing the benefits Smartcare training can make to the people within the care sector, to the learners and service users. And her training reaches younger people too. As a volunteer for guiding she helps with a brownie unit and also supports guiders with first aid and food hygiene training. When she not camping with the Brownies she loves travelling further afield, particularly to America. |

Sue Thomas - Administration Manager
Has worked in administrative roles for over 20 years and worked with Smartcare for the last 5 years. She keeps things running smoothly by coordinating training programmes and liaising with trainers to develop new courses. She manages the busy office and enjoys the varied role she has and the development opportunities that are available through Smartcare. When not in work she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening and keeping fit. |

Jayne Jones - Lead Assessor
Has worked in the care sector for 21 years in domiciliary and nursing. She enjoys her assessor’s role as by doing her own NVQ’s, she feels she can put herself into the learner’s position. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her two children and their hobbies - gymnastics and football. ‘Training’ is passion for her - she is also an assistant coach for gymnastics with sport arco. |

Julie Longmuir - Lead Trainer and Assessor
Started her career in management and then owned a successful shop in Scotland. She moved to Wales in 2004 and started work for Bupa as a care assistant then progressed through the company before moving to be a trainer with Smartcare. She is very passionate about care for the older people, and believes that good care starts with good training. She uses her hands on experience when she is developing new courses with the Smartcare team. Family is very important to Julie. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and visiting Scotland when she can. |

Lorraine Penk - Lead Trainer
Has 6 years experience in First Aid training, which she loves and which she specialises in. She also has experience in a care home so she understands delegates' needs. She says the best thing about her job is giving people confidence in their abilities. Training is certainly in her blood and when she's not working she is busy as a qualified swimming coach for Penley Swimming Club spending 4 nights a week training young people and at least one weekend a month taking them to swimming galas. |

Linda Walsh - NVQ Administrator
Keeps NVQ processes running smoothly for us by ensuring paperwork and files are correct and up to date. She also does the monthly accounts, reconciling the bank/purchase ledger/paying creditors/banking payments. She loves to see the certificates come in to show what candidates have achieved. When she’s not working see loves walking her two English Springer Spaniels Pepper and Molly. |

Carla Barchetti - Housekeeper Has been looking after our building for over 20 years and has continued to keep the house beautiful since we started using the building 4 years ago. It is a lovely building for training with its high ceiling, light and airy feel and cosy rooms for breaks and lunches. She ensures that the training centre is clean and ready when learners arrive and arranges refreshments and lunch. She enjoys welcoming the learners when they arrive and gets a lot of fulfilment out of knowing she has contributed to their experience. When she’s not working she still loves looking after people by having her family around for supper and looking after her two grandsons. |

Anita Curley (RGN) City and Guilds Quality Assurance Coordinator and Lead Internal Verifier Has worked in the Independent Sector for over 30 years. She has a broad range of experience from Care Home Owner to writing Distance Learning Packages. As an RCN Learning Representative, Anita has a breadth of knowledge and she enjoys sharing best practice with not just Smartcare but other learning providers. Outside of work she enjoys nothing more than packing up the caravan at the weekend and escaping to the countryside. |

Lyn Palmer - Facilitator and Management of Staff Development Programmes
Lyn is a Management and Training Consultant with many years experience working with small businesses. A specialist in Management Development, she designs customised courses and also delivers accredited courses. Lyn is a qualified counsellor and an Associate Lecturer with the Open University Business School. Lyn specialises in developing and facilitating courses for the Smartcare Management and Staff Development programmes. |

Jan Wood -National Workforce Development Advisor (Care Forum Wales)
Through our links with Care Forum Wales we are also able to draw upon advice from Jan Wood. Well known for her passion for quality and with more than three decades experience in the sector, Jan helps keep us updated with latest thinking and advises on NVQ training and decisions in particular. She represents the sector, locally, regionally with the four social care partnerships and nationally and has been involved closely with the Academy of Care Practitioners project. |
